A massive storm is brewing in the valley, and it’s set to land on June 30 at the Langley Banquet Hall in Aldergrove. Digital Storm LAN Event will open its doors to the biggest LAN Event ever held in the Fraser Valley. There will be seating for up to 700 computer videogamers who will all be there to compete for prizes, have fun, and defend their Clan’s pride. The storm will rage from June 30 until July 2 when the air in the center will be charged with the adrenaline of competition and the hopes of climbing to the top of videogame supremacy in the Valley.
The phenomena of computer videogaming is an industry which has done nothing but grow since Computer Space hit the arcades in 1971. In the 21st century, videogames have topped the entertainment industry in not only sales but in participants. Vancouver is considered a world class videogame production centre, and some of those locally produced topselling games will be featured at Digital Storm.
The LAN Event, which is being hosted by KillaNet Technology Ltd., a digital arts and programming online community is a three day fundraiser for Digital Youth, a digital arts school for grades 10 through 12 currently in pre-development in Aldergrove. KillaNet (Killa is slang for «cool») Technology is currently working on getting its official business office and retail outlet open for later this spring, where it will offer digital arts workshops for all levels of experience, as well as an outlet for the artwork and photography of its online digital artists as well as software.
Digital Storm tickets are now officially on sale for an early bird price of $40.00, which includes event admission, welcome package, tournaments, individual competitions and random prizes. There will also be special competitions, such as the Clan Flag Competition. As Canada’s birthday takes place during the LAN event, there will also be some patriotic-themed competitions and other surprises.
